AmpliTest Salmonella spp.
(Real Time PCR)
BAC01-100
Salmonella genus consists of Gram-negative bacteria belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae family. Salmonella genus includes to two species: S. enteritica and S. bongori. The first species is divided into several hundred serotypes. The most important serotypes are S. enteritidis, S. typhimurium, S. virchov, S. hadar, S. typhi and S. paratyphi. Salmonella attacks humans as well as many animal species. The infection often comes through food. S. typhi and and S. paratyphi cause typhoid fever and paratyphoid fever, respectively. In general, Salmonella bacteria are a cause of salmonellosis – a disease leading to inflammation of the small and large intestines. The main symptoms of the disease are abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting and fever. Salmonella infection can be dangerous for people with decreased immunity, children and the elderly.
AmpliTest Salmonella spp. (Real Time PCR) test is designed to detect DNA sequences specific for bacteria of the genus Salmonella in DNA samples obtained from foods and tissues of infected animal. The Real Time PCR reaction is a duplex-type. Bacterial DNA is detected in the FAM channel. The second channel (HEX) serves for detection of the internal control. Controls included into the test (rekombinant DNAs) enable control of the correct course of the Real Time PCR reaction.
