AmpliTest FCV (Real Time PCR)
RV09-100
FCV (feline calicivirus) is a very contagious virus that causes calicivirus inflammation of the upper respiratory tract in cats, especially those living in large clusters. This virus has high genetic variability due to persistent mutations. Various strains have different virulence, antigenicity and immunogenicity. Sick cats (with acute infection) or carriers excrete FCV in nasal and oral secretions and conjunctivitis. Infection is transmitted mainly through direct contact. The main symptoms of infection include oral ulceration, inflammation of the upper respiratory tract with high fever and pneumonia. In addition, transient arthritis may occur. The disease mortality is 67%.
AmpliTest FCV (Real Time PCR) test is based on one-step Real Time PCR reaction. Thus, the reactions of reverse transciption and PCR take place in one reaction tube. This approach ensures less amount of manipulations necessary for analysis, and thus minimalizes the risk of possible contamination. The Real Time PCR reaction is a duplex type. FAM channel serves for detection of the viral RNA. The second channel (HEX) is used for detection of the internal control. Controls included into test (recombinant RNAs) enable control of the correct course of both reverse transcription and Real Time PCR reactions.
