AmpliTest Chlamydophila felis

BAC41-100
Chlamydia felis is a obligate intracellular bacterial parasite that is one of the causes of conjunctivitis in cats. The bacterium does not survive outside the host, therefore infection occurs mainly through direct contact between animals. Clinical symptoms usually appear within a few days of infection. The bacteria attack and infect the conjunctival cells, causing inflammation and discharge from the eyes. This disease usually affects young kittens under 9 months of age. The infection is diagnosed by taking swabs from the conjunctiva or the mouth and throat and examining them, among others, using the Real Time PCR technique. The treatment usually involves antibiotics of the tetracycline group.
AmpliTest Chlamydia felis (Real Time PCR) kit is designed to detect DNA sequences specific for bacteria Chlamydia felis in DNA samples obtained from swabs taken from infected cats. The Real Time PCR reaction is a duplex-type. Bacterial DNA is detected in the FAM channel. The second channel (HEX) serves for detection of the internal control. Controls included into the test (rekombinant DNAs) allow for monitoring the correctness of the Real Time PCR reaction.
