AmpliTest BVDV (Real Time PCR)

RV01-100

BVDV (Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus) is an RNA-type virus belonging to Flaviviridae family. This virus is characterized by high genetic variation – several handreds of various genetical variants have been described so far. Identified RNA sequences fall into three distinct genotypes (BVDV1, BVDV2 and recently described BVDV3). BVDV infects ruminants around the whole globe. BVDV infections in kattle lead to Bovine Viral Diarrhea – Mucosal Disease. This disease is now considered to be the main cause of economic loss for livestock farmers. BVDV infection leads to a decrease in immunity resulting in secondary infections. It can also lead to fertility disorders. It is estimated that the percentage of cows that come into contact with BVDV ranges between 60-90%, depending on the region of the world. The reservoir of the virus in nature is the wild ruminants, goats and pigs.

AmpliTest BVDV (Real Time PCR) is based on one-step Real Time PCR. Thus, the reactions of reverse transciption and PCR take place in one reaction tube. This approach ensures less amount of manipulations necessary for analysis, and thus minimalizes the risk of possible contamination. AmpliTest BVDV (Real Time PCR) enables detection of all three BVDV genotypes. Real Time PCR reaction is a fourplex-type. Specific BVDV genotypes are detected in three channels: FAM, Texas Red and Cy5. Fourth channel (HEX) serves for controlling the amplification of the internal control. Controls included into test (recombinant RNAs) allow for monitoring the correctness of the Real Time PCR reaction.
