AmpliTest Anaplasma/Ehrlichia spp.

(Real Time PCR)

BAC07-100

Anaplasma bacteria are intracellular parasites that attack granulocytes. Their cell structure is similar to Rickettsia. They primarily cause animal anaplasmosis (Animal Granulocytic Anaplasmosis, AGA) in farmed and wild ruminants, equidae and canines. In humans anaplasmas cause human anaplasmosis (HGA, Human Granulocytic Anaplasmosis). Ticks of the genus Ixodes and Dermacentor are the main transmission factors of anaplasmosis.

Bacteria of the genus Ehrlichia are an etiological factor of acute, zoonotic infectious diseases. These bacteria cause human monocytic erythropoiesis (HME), which is similar in appearance to granulocytic anaplasmosis. Fever, sleepiness, apathy, lack of appetite, and weight loss are observed in animals infected with Ehrlichia or Anaplasma. Common symptoms include lymph node enlargement, epithelial and rhinorrhea associated with thrombocytopenia. Sometimes neurological symptoms, vomiting or diarrhea are also observed.

AmpliTest Anaplasma/Ehrlichia spp. (Real Time PCR) test is designed to detect DNA sequences specific for bacteria of the genus Anaplasma and Ehrlichia in DNA samples obtained from tissues of infected animal (mammal or tick). The Real Time PCR reaction is a duplex-type. Bacterial DNA is detected in the FAM channel. The second channel (HEX) serves for detection of the internal control. Controls included into the test (rekombinant DNAs) allow for monitoring the correctness of the Real Time PCR reaction.
